How do I cook the meals and snacks?Updated 11 days ago
All our meals and snacks are designed to be stored and heated from frozen, therefore we will always recommend the ‘from frozen’ instruction as this will give the best results.
Heating instructions for microwave and/or oven can be found on the packaging, and also on the product information section when in the 'Build your Box' page.
All appliances vary, therefore our instructions are guidelines only, and the most important thing is that the internal temperature of the food reaches 70°C for 2 minutes, regardless of the meal or cook method. Always allow to cool sufficiently before serving to your child.
Once cooked, always make sure products are kept chilled if not eaten straight away and consumed within 48 hours. We would always be cautious with how long they are kept out of the fridge if travelling, so we suggest the use of ice packs when taking these out and about.
We have recently updated our packaging to a new PP lined paperboard, which is more suited to our microwave cook methods. However, we have decided to advise against putting the pot directly in the oven as the material is not best suited to the high and prolonged temperatures of oven cooking; instead, it is best to decant the meal into a suitable oven-proof container to ensure the best results.
Our snacks make for great picnic and lunchbox fillers, however, all our snacks should be cooked first following the on-pack instructions, rather than defrosting and eating chilled. All our snacks are fully cooked prior to freezing so the risk of illness from eating without heating is incredibly low, however young children are at a higher risk of illness caused by improper defrosting/storage so we prefer to err on the side of caution.
